La Nasa, infatti, ha fatto sapere di aver rimandato al settembre 2025 la missione Artemis 2.I quattro astronauti dell'equipaggio: il comandante Reid Wiseman, il pilota Victor Glover e gli specialisti di missione Christina Koch, della Nasa e Jeremy Hansen, dell'Agenzia spaziale canadese (Csa) non dovranno scendere sul nostro satellite ma orbitarci intorno per testare tutte le procedure in vista dell'allunaggio vero e proprio del primo equipaggio umano della missione Artemis 3 che, a questo punto, come spiega la stessa Nasa, non avverrà prima del settembre 2026. "La sicurezza è sempre la priorità numero uno della Nasa - ha spiegato l'amministratore dell'agenzia spaziale americana, Bill Nelson - ecco perché la NASA sta modificando i propri programmi per puntare a settembre 2025 per Artemis 2 e a settembre 2026 per Artemis 3".Rimane in programma per il 2028, invece, Artemis 4, la prima missione verso la stazione spaziale Lunar Gateway in orbita cislunare che ha anche un'importante partecipazione europea e italiana in particolare, grazie ai moduli costruiti nel nostro Paese da Thales Alenia Space del gruppo Leonardo.Tra le cause del rinvio, la necessità - ha spiegato Nelson - di approfondire alcune ricerche tecniche relative ai sistemi di controllo ambientale e supporto vitale della capsula Orion per risolvere alcuni problemi emersi di recente, relativi in particolare alle batterie e al sistema di ventilazione e temperatura che si aggiungono ai problemi riscontrati in precedenza nello scudo termico della navetta e ai ritardi di Space X nello sviluppo della Starship, scelta come lander lunare.
