che dal2008 vede i militari impegnati a difesa della collettività e afianco delle forze di polizia per il presidio del territorio ela sorveglianza di punti sensibili.Un presidio capillare del territorio che vede la presenzadell'Esercito in 57 province su oltre 920 siti con loschieramento di oltre 6.600 uomini e donne. Di questi, circa200 conducono attività di contrasto e prevenzione dei reatiambientali nella cosiddetta 'Terra dei Fuochi'. Inoltre, 800soldati sono impegnati a rafforzare i dispositivi di controllo esicurezza delle principali infrastrutture ferroviarie del Paese,nell'ambito della cosiddetta esigenza 'Stazioni Sicure' cheprevede la vigilanza di 20 stazioni nelle città di Genova,Milano, Torino, Bologna, Venezia, Verona, Firenze, Roma, Napoli,Bari e Palermo. Un impegno concreto con risultati tangibili: oltre 48 milionidi controlli a persone e veicoli, oltre 102.000 persone fermate,arrestate o denunciate, 1.790 armi sequestrate, 16.800 veicoli epiù di 2,5 tonnellate di droga sequestrate. Un'attenzioneparticolare alla 'Terra dei Fuochi', dove sono stati individuatie tempestivamente bonificati più di 1.720 roghi dolosi e più di7.050 siti di sversamento illecito di rifiuti.
