E' il bilancio dell'operazione effettuatadalla compagnia dei carabinieri di Popoli (Pescara) che, insinergia con quelli del comando provinciale di Foggia, altermine di un'indagine durata un anno e mezzo e coordinata dallaprocura della Repubblica di Foggia, hanno sgominatoun'associazione a delinquere dedita a furti, rapine edestorsione. I dodici, dieci uomini e due donne, avrebbero messoa segno oltre 25 furti nelle province di Pescara, Ascoli Picenoe Foggia, rubando soprattutto rame all'interno delle paleeoliche e cagionando danni per oltre 200mila euro, ma tra leloro attività ci sarebbero state anche furti in abitazione,rapine, estorsioni e ricettazioni su tutto il territorionazionale.Nella provincia di Pescara, la banda aveva agito a febbraio2023 tra Manoppello Scalo e Scafa. L'indagine è partita proprioda Manoppello a seguito del furto compiuto ai danni di due dittecui erano stati sottratti un camion e diversi coils (bobine)d'acciaio. I membri dell'organizzazione si sarebbero quindioccupati di predisporre e organizzare tutti i mezzi e glistrumenti necessari per rendere più agevole l'attivitàdelittuosa programmata, individuando i luoghi più proficui daprendere di mira, organizzare preventivi sopralluoghi epredisponendo i mezzi più idonei al carico e scarico dellarefurtiva e il successivo allontanamento dai luoghi in cuisarebbero stati effettuati i furti.
