Anche le creme solari sono entrate negli ultimi anni nel mirino dei negazionisti convinti che si tratti di un prodotto "inutile", diffuso "solo per arricchire le industrie" o addirittura "cancerogeno" e "tossico". Una disinformazione che corre soprattutto sui social, attaccando i messaggi istituzionali di prevenzione che vengono diffusi soprattutto d'estate, e che sta facendo adepti anche in Europa e persino nel nostro Paese. Anche perché gli influencer 'no-sunscreen' hanno follower ben oltre i confini continentali. Il rifiuto delle protezioni solari, spiega all'Adnkronos Salute Giuseppe Argenziano, presidente Sidemast (Società italiana di dermatologia e malattie sessualmente trasmesse), "più che una moda direi che è un atteggiamento paranoico che purtroppo, come per i no-vax e i no-farmaci, può essere molto pericoloso". Il punto è che "il 90% dei tumori della pelle sono collegati alle scottature solari e quindi il filtro solare rappresenta un buon compromesso tra voglia di sole e prudenza. L'deale sarebbe cercare di evitare l'esposizione diretta al sole o indossare indumenti protettivi. Il miglior consiglio riguardo alle creme è quello di utilizzare la massima protezione (50) e riapplicare la crema ogni 2 ore di esposizione al sole". Gli influencer complottisti no-sunscreen sostengono, tra l'altro, che le creme solari impediscono l'assorbimento della vitamina D. "Falso - precisa Argenziano - è una leggenda metropolitana: la vitamina D viene prodotta dalla pelle in quantità assolutamente sufficienti se si utilizza la protezione solare".Le creme solari servono "per prevenire due cose: l'invecchiamento cutaneo e i tumori della pelle", aggiunge il presidente Sidemast. In questo quadro "le informazioni sui social non controllate sono molto rischiose. E' sbagliato mettere in dubbio l'importanza di utilizzare le creme solari, la cui azione di schermo è provata. E va addirittura 'potenziata', soprattutto per le pelli più chiare, evitando le lunghe esposizioni, preferendo l'ombra e anche indossando una maglietta in situazioni come, ad esempio, la barca, o quando si gioca il spiaggia".
