(askanews) - Il Vicepresidente del Consiglio dei Ministri e Ministro delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti Matteo Salvini ha visitato stamattina il cantiere di Piazza dei Cinquecento a Roma. Il sopralluogo è stato l'occasione per fare il punto sullo stato di avanzamento dei lavori di riqualificazione urbanistica e funzionale della piazza che è la porta d'ingresso a Roma Termini.I lavori, sottolinea una nota di Rfi, iniziati a ottobre 2023 dopo la conclusione positiva della Conferenza dei Servizi, riguardano aree di proprietà di FS Sistemi Urbani e di Roma Capitale e porteranno a una trasformazione epocale della piazza in vista del Giubileo del 2025. Presenti al sopralluogo, insieme al Ministro Salvini anche Francesco Rocca, Presidente Regione Lazio, Roberto Gualtieri, Sindaco di Roma, Gianpiero Strisciuglio AD e DG Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, Umberto Lebruto AD e DG FS Sistemi Urbani e Aldo Isi AD e DG ANAS.L'obiettivo principale dei lavori - che potrà vedere la sua completa attuazione dopo il Giubileo - è la riqualificazione dell'area e la riorganizzazione dei servizi esistenti. Nuovi spazi verdi che trasformeranno la piazza in un luogo più accogliente e contemporaneo per vivere una nuova socialità tra arte, cultura e rigenerazione urbana.La riqualificazione urbanistica e funzionale del Nodo di Termini e Piazza dei Cinquecento mira a valorizzare e accrescere l'integrazione tra monumenti e aree archeologiche circostanti, oltre a miglioramento della qualità architettonica ed ambientale di tutto il contesto.La piazza sarà trasformata in un luogo sempre più accessibile e integrato con i sistemi di mobilità urbana (treno-bus-taxi), migliorando la qualità dello spazio urbano con la pedonalizzazione di gran parte dell'area.
