terranno tre giorni di visite guidate alla sede storica dell'Osservatorio Vesuviano e ai luoghi del vulcano, aperte alle famiglie e agli studenti delle scuole della "zona rossa" individuata dal Piano Nazionale della protezione civile.Il programma di eventi, intitolato "Conoscere e vivere il Vesuvio, a 80 anni dall'ultima eruzione", è stato organizzato dall'Osservatorio Vesuviano dell'Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV-OV), dal Dipartimento della Protezione Civile (DPC), dalla Protezione Civile della Regione Campania e dall'Ente Parco Nazionale del Vesuvio, con la collaborazione all'Ufficio Scolastico Regionale per la Campania e del Comune di Ercolano ed è finalizzato ad offrire la possibilità di riscoprire il vulcano, i fenomeni ad esso associati, la memoria storica dei luoghi, nonché a promuovere le attività di protezione civile attraverso percorsi guidati che possano sviluppare la conoscenza del vulcano e la consapevolezza del rischio. Le visite sono gratuite e guidate da personale dell'INGV Osservatorio Vesuviano, dell'Ente Parco Nazionale del Vesuvio, del Dipartimento della Protezione Civile e della Protezione Civile della Regione Campania.La giornata del 17 marzo è aperta a tutti. Sono previste partenze scaglionate ogni ora a partire dalle 9:00 fino alle 15:00 ed è obbligatoria la prenotazione da effettuarsi (fino ad esaurimento posti) attraverso il sito web dell'Osservatorio Vesuviano www.ov.ingv.it. Le giornate del 18 e del 19 marzo sono dedicate alle scuole che abbiano aderito all'iniziativa attraverso l'Ufficio Scolastico Regionale.Il programma prevede, in tutte le giornate, una prima parte con la visita della sede storica dell'Osservatorio Vesuviano e la proiezione di un filmato esclusivo sull'eruzione del 1944 e una seconda parte con una camminata lungo il sentiero n. 9 del Parco Nazionale del Vesuvio per approfondire gli aspetti naturalistici del vulcano, le caratteristiche del rischio e le attività della protezione civile. L'intero percorso di visita dura circa due ore ed è organizzato per gruppi di 50 persone.Il Vesuvio, nel bel mezzo della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, scosse i cieli dando inizio all'ultima eruzione e lasciando un segno indelebile nella memoria. Pochi giorni dopo, mentre i bombardieri americani B25 Mitchell dell'operazione Strangle si levavano in volo per andare a colpire le truppe naziste attestate intorno a Monte Cassino, il Vesuvio, dopo una iniziale fase effusiva, dava sfogo alla sua potenza esplosiva innalzando nel cielo una colonna di cenere di più di 5 chilometri. L'eruzione del Vesuvio durò alcuni giorni.
