Lo rivela l’Inaf, Istituto nazionale di fisica, nel suo bollettino di informazione. “Tra i fireball progenitori di meteoriti triangolati dalla rete Prisma, ne mancava uno insulare – è scritto nell’articolo dell’Inaf -. Con l'evento dell'8 ottobre 2023 delle 23,53 ora locale, questa lacuna è stata colmata e l'isola fortunata è stata la Sardegna. Vediamo come sono andate le cose e dove andare alla ricerca delle meteoriti”.Dove è caduto Secondo i calcoli degli studiosi il pezzo è caduto nella periferia del centro abitato di Armungia, paesino di 400 abitanti posto a 65 chilometri da Cagliari. Secondo Raffaele Salerno del centro Meteo Expert il pezzo è di forma allungata e si trova a circa 1,1 km a nord-ovest del centro di Armungia, una zona impervia e ricca di boschi.
