Nel1980 era già sceso al 16 novembre, per risalire al 20 novembrenel 1981. Nel 1990 cadeva il 18 ottobre, nel 1991 il 20 ottobre.All'alba del nuovo millennio, nel 2000, le risorse mondialidell'anno venivano consumate il 17 settembre (il 13 settembrenel 2001). Dieci anni dopo, nel 2010, l'Earth Overshoot Daycadeva il 10 agosto.
