Viene venduta sottolineandone il 'potere' antinfiammatorio e la capacità di rafforzamento del sistema immunitario. Spesso poi vengono aggiunti aromi perché è indistinguibile dall'acqua del rubinetto, ma molto più cara. Aureliano Stingi, ricercatore e scienziato divulgatore su X, in un post ha chiarito che è "ovviamente inutile e mi conferma che spesso il marketing batte la scienza a mani basse". Raggiunto dall'Adnkronos Salute, ha specificato che "è l'ennesima moda stupida e costosa" e soprattutto "non serve a nulla se non a spendere soldi".
